We liked Cadaques immediately. Over lunch we reminisced about how we came to be here. Although Domi and I are both very fond of Spain, neither of us knew of Cadaques, until late last year. We were living in Melbourne at the time, as a result of a work project for me. One night I met Domi for dinner after work at Anada, a Spanish restaurant in Gertrude Street, Fitzroy. We got to chatting with our friendly Spanish waiter and told him of our fondness for Spain and that we had walked in quite a few different regions. He told us of the beautiful walking paths along the Costa Brava and to be sure to visit the town of a Cadaques, a beautiful white town, where his wife comes from. He mentioned that the town has strong links with Salvador Dali, and we must visit his beach house.
So we're going tomorrow afternoon. The house - in Portlligat, a beach cove about 30 minutes walk from Cadaques centre ville - is now a museum. Tickets must be reserved in advance - we managed to get the last two tickets available between now and next week! Expecting quirky and fun!
