Riquewihr, Alsace, France

The French has done a great job putting together our 'tour' of Alsace. Maybe I will have time to write more tomorrow. In the meantime, a brief summary.

We left Strasbourg on Monday morning in our 9 seater tour van and made our way, via the scenic route, to the village of Fegersheim. We are in a very comfortable chambre d'hote (B&B) where our hosts are Marie-Paule and Gerard. We have three bedrooms each with its own ensuite bathroom. That is not an easy ask in France but Domi has managed that for all of our accommodation for the week. Tonight is our last of two nights here.

Today we visited two beautiful Alsacian villages - photos below start with our morning walk in the forest near our chambre d'hote, then postcard perfect Riquewihr. Tomorrow we will spend much of the day in Colmar before heading to our gite in Les Vosges, our base for next three days.

More great food and wine today, which really is a theme for our road trip. Domi is our driver and imposes a rule of abstinence for himself at lunch and dinner when he needs to drive. He hasn't had a drop of wine until tonight when we 'ate in' - a picnic of jambon de Bayonne, saucisson, cheese, bread and salad around the big dining table in our chambre d'hôtel. Yum!!

Now time for bed. A demain ou la prochaine.
